AKTU CGPA to percentage is CGPA x 10, so 8.2 CGPA equals 82.0 percent; the AKTU B.Tech ordinance gives exactly this example in its clause on percentage. Nothing is subtracted.
Many websites tell AKTU students to subtract 0.75 before multiplying, which would turn 8.2 into 74.5 percent. That rule belongs to other universities. Type the CGPA into the converter above for the correct figure, and remember the university's own grade sheet and certificates decide what an employer accepts.

CGPA is the cumulative grade point average earned at the end of the programme, on a 10 point scale.
How the AKTU percentage calculator works
Type the CGPA, for example 7.68, and the result panel shows 76.8 percent. Flip the direction to find the CGPA a form demands: 70 percent needs 7.0. The panel also tells you the division band your CGPA falls in.
If you only have semester SGPAs, first build the cumulative figure in the AKTU SGPA calculator, which also shows YGPA.
- Take the CGPA from your final grade sheet.
- Multiply by 10.
- Keep one decimal place.
- Check your division in the CGPA table.
The official AKTU CGPA to percentage formula
The current B.Tech ordinance says, in clause 9, that CGPA earned times 10 equals the percentage of marks scored, and gives 8.2 becoming 82.0 percent as its example. The older B.Des ordinance, hosted on aktu.ac.in, follows the B.Tech rules and repeats the same line in clause 15.
So whether you joined years ago or recently, the conversion is a straight multiplication. The copy of the current ordinance we read is hosted by an affiliated college, while the older one is on the university's own website.
Worked examples
CGPA 8.20. 8.20 x 10 = 82.0 percent. First Division; Honours as well, provided no paper needed a second try and you finished in 8 semesters.
CGPA 6.38. 6.38 x 10 = 63.8 percent. This is Second Division, because AKTU draws the First Division line at 6.5 CGPA, not at 60 percent.
Campus drive asking for 65 percent. 65 / 10 = 6.5 CGPA is enough.
AKTU CGPA to percentage conversion table
| CGPA on the grade sheet | Percentage (x 10) | What some sites wrongly show (minus 0.75) |
|---|---|---|
| 9.5 | 95.0 | 87.5 |
| 9.0 | 90.0 | 82.5 |
| 8.5 | 85.0 | 77.5 |
| 8.2 | 82.0 | 74.5 |
| 8.0 | 80.0 | 72.5 |
| 7.75 | 77.5 | 70.0 |
| 7.5 | 75.0 | 67.5 |
| 7.25 | 72.5 | 65.0 |

| 6.5 | 65.0 | 57.5 |
| 6.25 | 62.5 | 55.0 |
| 6.0 | 60.0 | 52.5 |
| 5.5 | 55.0 | 47.5 |
| 5.0 | 50.0 | 42.5 |
The third column shows the error caused by the popular but wrong minus 0.75 rule: every value is 7.5 points short.
Why so many sites say minus 0.75 for AKTU
The minus 0.75 offset genuinely applies at MAKAUT, at JNTUK, and for students of VTU on its 2018 scheme or earlier ones. Generic pages copied it across universities. AKTU's ordinance never mentions it. If an HR form or a foreign admission office questions your number, show the ordinance clause or ask for a certificate from the university.
Grades and divisions
| Marks | Grade | Point value |
|---|---|---|
| 90 and above | A+ | 10 |
| 80 to 89 | A | 9 |
| 70 to 79 | B+ | 8 |
| 60 to 69 | B | 7 |
| 50 to 59 | C | 6 |
| 45 to 49 | D | 5 |
| 40 to 44 | E | 4 |
| Below 40 | F | 0 |
| Division | CGPA | Other condition |
|---|---|---|
| First Division with Honours | 7.5 or more | No paper repeated and the degree finished inside 8 semesters; the newest ordinance also asks for at least 20 MOOC credits |
| First Division | 6.5 or more | None beyond passing |
| Second Division | Below 6.5 | All other qualifying students (older text: 6.0 or more) |
You need a minimum SGPA of 5.0 to pass a semester. Divisions are decided by CGPA, which is why a 63.8 percent student is in Second Division even though the percentage is above 60.
Slips to avoid
| Slip | Result | Correction |
|---|---|---|
| Subtracting 0.75 before multiplying | You undersell yourself by 7.5 marks | Multiply the CGPA by 10 and stop |
| Converting the last semester's SGPA | That shows one term, not the degree | Use the final CGPA |
| Converting YGPA as if it were CGPA | YGPA covers only one year | Wait for CGPA or compute it from all SGPAs |
| Rounding 8.46 to 85 percent | 8.46 x 10 is 84.6 | Write the exact value |
| Quoting division from percentage | AKTU sets divisions on CGPA | Use the CGPA bands in the division table |
Conversion certificate and where your CGPA appears
Your CGPA is printed on the final grade sheet once all semesters are complete; semester sheets show SGPA and the year's YGPA. An AKTU CGPA to percentage conversion certificate is the document to ask for if you need the figure certified. Apply through the university's student services or your college with the final grade sheet and the fee AKTU sets. Our certificate guide covers what to request.
Need the other direction for an eligibility check? The percentage to CGPA tool handles that for any university, and for AKTU it is just division by 10.
Questions students ask
How can AKTU students convert CGPA into percentage in one step to fill a form?
Multiply the CGPA by 10, which is the whole AKTU CGPA to percentage conversion formula. AKTU's ordinance gives the example of 8.2 CGPA equal to 82.0 percent.
Is the AKTU CGPA to percentage formula official?
Yes. Clause 9 of the B.Tech ordinance and clause 15 of the B.Des ordinance both state CGPA x 10. The B.Des text is on aktu.ac.in.
Why do some sites say subtract 0.75 for AKTU?
