KTU CGPA to percentage now works by multiplying the CGPA by 10 under the current orders, which makes 8.12 equal to 81.2 percent. The rule covers the B.Tech 2019 scheme as well as the 2015 scheme, and also students who graduated before the change.
The first 2019 scheme rule was different: 10 x CGPA - 2.5, which turned the same 8.12 into 78.7. KTU replaced it. If a website gives you a KTU figure built on minus 0.5 or minus 0.75, that page is out of date. Enter your CGPA above to see it worked. KTU itself issues any certificate you need.

Which KTU orders set the KTU CGPA to percentage rule
KTU University Order No. 1584 rewrote the 2019 scheme conversion as a single multiplication by 10. Order No. 1867 then extended it to 2015 scheme B.Tech students and to everyone already graduated. Past graduates may request new certificates showing the x 10 figure.
Before these orders, clause R6.21 of the 2019 scheme said percentage = 10 x CGPA - 2.5. The M.Tech 2015 scheme had used 10 x CGPA - 3.75. If you are an M.Tech student, confirm the current rule for your programme with the university, since the orders we read speak about B.Tech.
- Take the CGPA from your latest KTU grade card or consolidated mark list.
- Multiply it by 10.
- Write the answer with one decimal, for example 7.36 becomes 73.6 percent.
Worked examples with KTU CGPAs
CGPA 8.12. 8.12 x 10 = 81.2 percent. Under the replaced rule it would have been 81.2 - 2.5 = 78.7.
CGPA 7.36. 7.36 x 10 = 73.6 percent. The old rule gave 71.1.
CGPA 6.50. 6.50 x 10 = 65.0 percent. The old rule gave 62.5.
The gap between the old and new figures is always 2.5 points. That is why students who graduated earlier asked for fresh certificates: the new rule adds 2.5 to every converted percentage.

Why other sites show a lower KTU percentage
Several general rules float around online. Applied to KTU they all give the wrong answer. Here is what each one makes of a CGPA of 8.12.
| Rule | Result for 8.12 | Valid for KTU now |
|---|---|---|
| CGPA x 10 | 81.2 | Yes |
| 10 x CGPA - 2.5 | 78.7 | No, replaced |
| (CGPA - 0.5) x 10 | 76.2 | No |
| (CGPA - 0.75) x 10 | 73.7 | No |
The minus 0.5 rule belongs to universities such as JNTUH and GTU, and minus 0.75 to MAKAUT and the older VTU schemes. Every rule sits side by side on the CGPA to percentage page.
Percentage back to CGPA
The reverse is a plain division. Divide the percentage by 10. A form that asks for 72 percent minimum means a KTU CGPA of 7.20. Press Swap direction in the tool to do this, or use the percentage to CGPA page.
Remember that the CGPA itself comes from your semester results. Current students can follow it term by term with the KTU CGPA calculator which combines SGPAs with their credits.
KTU CGPA to percentage conversion certificate and class
When a company, an overseas university or a state office wants proof of the percentage, they usually want a letter issued by KTU itself. Graduated students covered by the later order can request a new certificate from KTU with the x 10 figure. Check the KTU student portal or your college office for the current process and fee.
We could not verify a published class or division table for either B.Tech scheme. If a form asks for your class, read it from your degree certificate or ask the college exam cell.
Errors to avoid when converting a KTU CGPA
| Mistake | Effect | Correction |
|---|---|---|
| Still using x 10 - 2.5 | 2.5 points too low | Multiply by 10 only |
| Using a JNTU or older VTU formula | 5 to 7.5 points too low | Use the KTU rule |
| Converting an SGPA as if it were a CGPA | Reflects a single semester only | Use the CGPA from the final card |
| Keeping an old certificate | It shows the replaced figure | Ask KTU for a fresh one |
