KTU CGPA Calculator for B.Tech, S1 to S8

UniversitiesS1 to S8x 10 percentageChecked Nov 2026

This KTU CGPA calculator takes SGPA x credits for every finished semester, sums them and shares that sum over all those credits, which is how KTU builds the figure on your grade card. Take S1 to S4 with SGPAs 7.82, 8.10, 8.45 and 7.96 carrying 17, 21, 22 and 22 credits: the result is 8.10.

It also shows the percentage. Under the current university orders a KTU CGPA is multiplied by 10, whether your B.Tech batch follows the 2019 scheme or the earlier 2015 scheme. KTU's own grade card and certificates are what count in the end.

CGPA = sum of (SGPA x semester credits) / sum of semester credits

Take each SGPA and the credits of that semester from the KTU result or grade card. Semesters with more credits weigh more.

Filling in the CGPA calculator for KTU students

The grade scale is set to KTU, grade points as printed. That is deliberate. We could not verify the letter table of the 2015 scheme or the 2019 scheme, so the tool asks for the grade point itself, which is printed beside every course on your KTU card. The picker offers 10, 9.5, 9 and so on down to 4 and 0.

For a CGPA, open the CGPA from semesters tab. Put one semester in each row: its SGPA and its credits. On the right you see the CGPA, how many credits were used, their credit point sum and the KTU percentage at CGPA x 10. A working line shows each product so you can check the sum. For a single term built from course grades, use the other tab or our KTU SGPA calculator.

  1. Collect the SGPA and the total credits for S1, S2 and every later semester you have passed.
  2. Multiply each SGPA by the credits of its semester.
  3. Add all those products.
  4. Add all the credits.
  5. Divide the first total by the second. Multiply by 10 for the percentage.

How KTU weights semesters in the CGPA

A simple average treats S1 and S7 as equal. KTU does not. Its CGPA is credit weighted over all semesters, so a semester with more credits counts more. The formula is the same one used for an SGPA, applied one level up.

Sample KTU record for four semesters
SemesterSGPACreditsCredit points
S17.8217132.94
S28.1021170.10
S38.4522185.90
S47.9622175.12
Total82664.06

These credit totals are only for the example. Your branch and scheme set the real ones, and they are printed on each semester result.

Worked example: KTU CGPA after S4

Credit points: 132.94 + 170.10 + 185.90 + 175.12 = 664.06.

Credits: 17 + 21 + 22 + 22 = 82.

CGPA = 664.06 / 82 = 8.098, which rounds to 8.10.

A plain mean of the four SGPAs would be 32.33 / 4 = 8.08. The lighter S1 is what pulls the plain mean down.

Percentage under the current orders: 8.10 x 10 = 81.0.

KTU CGPA calculator at every stage: S5, S8 and in between

You can run the KTU CGPA calculator for S5 just as well as for S8. It doubles as a KTU BTech CGPA calculator for every branch, and as a total CGPA calculator for KTU once all eight rows are in. After S5, enter five rows. In the final year the S8 project usually carries a large share of credits, so a good grade there lifts the overall figure. Enter only semesters whose results are out. A semester still waiting for a supplementary result should be added later.

To test how far a coming semester could shift your CGPA, add a row with the SGPA you hope for and its credits. Remove it before you quote the number anywhere.

From KTU CGPA to percentage

Once the CGPA is known, the KTU percentage is a single step: multiply by 10. Two university orders settled this for B.Tech, first for the 2019 scheme and then for the older batches. The original 2019 scheme text had subtracted 2.5 after multiplying. Pages that still subtract 0.5 or 0.75 are simply out of date where KTU is concerned.

What this tool does not cover

This is not a KTU internal marks calculator. The split between internal assessment and the end semester exam depends on the course and scheme, and it is set in your syllabus, so check that document. Grade point rules for the newer 2024 scheme are also outside what we could verify. If your card shows half points such as 8.5, simply pick them in the list.

Questions students ask

How is CGPA calculated in KTU?

KTU lets bigger semesters count for more. Find SGPA times credits for each term, add those products and spread that sum over the credits of the same terms.

Is there a KTU GPA calculator for one semester?

Yes. The SGPA from grades tab handles a single term: type course credits, pick grade points, done. KTU calls that figure the SGPA.

Will this work as a KTU S8 GPA calculator for the final CGPA?

Yes. Enter all eight semesters with their credits after the S8 result. The answer should agree with what the last KTU card prints.

Does the KTU CGPA and GPA calculator work for the 2019 scheme?

Yes. It uses the grade points you type, so the older 2015 scheme cards work as well as 2019 scheme ones.

What is the KTU percentage for a CGPA of 7.5?

75 percent, because the current KTU orders multiply CGPA by 10.

Why does my answer differ slightly from the grade card?

Check that every semester has the right credits and that each SGPA went in with all its decimals.
