RGPV CGPA to percentage is most often worked out as CGPA x 10, so a CGPA of 7.35 becomes 73.5 percent, but we could not find an RGPV ordinance that confirms it, and one portal quotes (CGPA - 0.5) x 10 instead. Treat x 10 as the usual estimate, compare it with the other readings below, and get the final figure from the university in Bhopal before it goes on any form that will be verified.
The calculator above opens on x 10. Its side list shows the minus 0.5, minus 0.75 and x 9.5 readings so you can see the whole range for your CGPA in one go.

CGPA is the cumulative figure on your latest RGPV grade sheet, out of 10. The minus 0.5 and minus 0.75 versions subtract that amount before multiplying by 10.
The state of the RGPV CGPA to percentage conversion formula
Ask ten RGPV students for the conversion and most will say multiply by 10. That matches what most secondary sources print. One portal, though, gives (CGPA - 0.5) x 10, and none of them links an RGPV ordinance or circular. We looked and did not find one, so we cannot call either rule official.
In practice this means two things. First, x 10 is a fair working estimate for planning, such as checking whether you are near a placement cut off. Second, before a percentage goes on a job application, a GATE related form or a higher studies form, get the number from RGPV or your college exam cell so it can be verified.
- Take the CGPA from your latest RGPV grade sheet.
- Enter it above and read the x 10 estimate.
- Check the side list for the minus 0.5 and minus 0.75 readings.
- Ask your college exam cell whether RGPV has given a rule for your batch.
- For a document, apply to RGPV for a conversion certificate.
Reading the RGPV CGPA calculator result
Type your CGPA, for example 7.35, in the first box. The big figure on the right is the x 10 reading. The list underneath shows the same CGPA under CBSE style x 9.5, the minus 0.75 rule (shown with the older VTU schemes), the minus 0.5 rule (labelled GTU) and a few more. Pick a different rule in the dropdown if your college has told you which one to use.
Swap direction turns the tool around for RGPV percentage to CGPA. Under x 10, 72 percent is a CGPA of 7.2; under minus 0.5 it is 7.7.
RGPV CGPA to percentage conversion table
| CGPA | x 10 | (CGPA - 0.5) x 10 | (CGPA - 0.75) x 10 | x 9.5 |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 5.9 | 59 | 54 | 51.5 | 56.05 |
| 6.4 | 64 | 59 | 56.5 | 60.8 |
| 6.9 | 69 | 64 | 61.5 | 65.55 |
| 7.3 | 73 | 68 | 65.5 | 69.35 |
| 7.8 | 78 | 73 | 70.5 | 74.1 |
| 8.25 | 82.5 | 77.5 | 75 | 78.38 |
| 8.55 | 85.5 | 80.5 | 78 | 81.23 |
| 8.8 | 88 | 83 | 80.5 | 83.6 |
| 9.25 | 92.5 | 87.5 | 85 | 87.88 |
| 9.6 | 96 | 91 | 88.5 | 91.2 |
The minus 0.5 column is always 5 points under x 10. Campus drives often set a bar such as 60 or 65 percent, and a CGPA between 6.0 and 7.0 is where the rule you pick matters most.
Worked example: B.Tech student with CGPA 7.35
CGPA on the final RGPV grade sheet: 7.35.
- x 10: 7.35 x 10 = 73.5 percent
- Minus 0.5: (7.35 - 0.5) x 10 = 6.85 x 10 = 68.5 percent
- Minus 0.75: (7.35 - 0.75) x 10 = 6.6 x 10 = 66 percent
- x 9.5: 7.35 x 9.5 = 69.825, about 69.83 percent
For a recruiter with a 70 percent bar, only the x 10 reading clears it. That is the moment to ask the exam cell for a written figure instead of choosing the friendliest rule.
How to calculate RGPV CGPA from SGPA in credits
Your CGPA is not the plain average of semester SGPAs when credits differ. Take each SGPA times the credits of that semester, total those products, and divide that grand total by all the credits.
Four semesters: 7.2 (24 credits), 7.6 (24), 8.0 (22) and 7.4 (22).
7.2 x 24 = 172.8; 7.6 x 24 = 182.4; 8.0 x 22 = 176; 7.4 x 22 = 162.8.
Total 694 over 92 credits gives a CGPA of 7.54.
The credits here are only for illustration; read your own from each grade sheet. The SGPA to CGPA calculator does this sum for up to eight semesters, and the SGPA calculator works out a single semester from grades.
RGPV marks aggregate calculator and the conversion certificate
If an older statement shows marks instead of grades, you do not need any CGPA rule. Add marks obtained across all papers, then take that as a share of the maximum, times 100. A student with 2,845 marks out of 4,000 has an aggregate of 71.125 percent. The marks percentage calculator handles this.
For a percentage on paper, ask your college exam cell how RGPV issues a conversion certificate for your batch, and pay any fee RGPV lists. Employers and foreign universities trust that certificate over any online figure, including this one.
Where RGPV students go wrong
| What happens | Why it hurts | Do this |
|---|---|---|
| Writing the x 10 figure as official | RGPV has not confirmed it in a document we found | Call it an estimate, or get a certificate |
| Averaging SGPAs without credits | Heavier semesters count for more | Multiply each SGPA by its own credits |
| Mixing two rules on different forms | Background checks compare figures | Use one figure everywhere |
| Converting only the latest SGPA | One term is not your degree result | Convert the final CGPA |

Questions students ask
What is the RGPV CGPA to percentage formula?
Most sources say CGPA x 10, and one says (CGPA - 0.5) x 10. We could not find an RGPV ordinance confirming either, so treat x 10 as an estimate and get the official figure from RGPV.
RGPV students ask: how to convert the CGPA into percentage?
Type the CGPA into the tool above; it shows x 10 first and the other readings beside it. For verified forms, use the CGPA to percentage figure that the RGPV university office certifies.
Does RGPV issue a certificate for CGPA to percentage conversion?
Check with your college's exam office about the current process, or write to the RGPV examination branch. The certificate states the percentage RGPV accepts for your CGPA.
RGPV: 7 CGPA equals what percentage?
Seventy percent under the usual x 10 estimate. Under the minus 0.5 rule it would be 65 percent, and under minus 0.75 it would be 62.5 percent.
RGPV percentage back to CGPA: how is it done?
Use Swap direction in the calculator. Under x 10 you divide the percentage by 10, so 68 percent is 6.8. Other rules give slightly higher CGPAs for the same percentage. To convert CGPA to percentage RGPV style, you simply reverse the step and multiply by 10.
In RGPV, how is the CGPA worked out from SGPA?
Weight every semester SGPA by the credits it carries, sum the products, and divide that sum by all credits taken. The SGPA to CGPA calculator on this site does it for you.
