Veltech CGPA Calculator for Vel Tech SGPA and CGPA

UniversitiesVel TechPoints as printedSGPA and CGPAChecked Nov 2026

A veltech CGPA calculator needs only two things from each course on your Vel Tech mark sheet, the credits and the grade point, because SGPA and CGPA are credit weighted averages: total of credits x points divided by total credits. Sixteen credits that earn 136 points give an SGPA of 136 / 16 = 8.50.

We could not verify the Vel Tech grade table or a published percentage rule, so the tool takes grade points as printed, and its x 10 percentage line is just one of several possibilities. The Vel Tech examination cell decides the official percentage.

CGPA = total credit points of all semesters / total credits

Credit points for a course are its credits times its grade point. Failed courses count as your mark sheet shows them.

What is confirmed about Vel Tech grading, and what is not

Vel Tech uses a 10 point credit system, and the averaging step is the same everywhere such a system is used. What we could not confirm from an official Vel Tech document is the letter to point table and any CGPA to percentage clause. One outside calculator says CGPA x 10, but that is not enough to call it the rule.

So this page is honest about the gap. The calculator asks you for the point value printed on your sheet, which makes the SGPA as exact as the sheet itself, and it labels the percentage as an estimate.

  1. Keep your latest Vel Tech semester mark sheet beside you.
  2. Enter credits and the numeric grade point of each course.
  3. Note the SGPA the calculator gives and compare it with the printed one.
  4. Use the semester tab to combine all SGPAs with their credits into a CGPA.
  5. Get the percentage from the examination cell if a form asks for it.

Entering your marks in the veltech CGPA calculator

  • Pick a row per course. The credit column on the mark sheet is usually beside the course code.
  • Choose the grade point from the dropdown, which runs from 10 to 4 in half steps with 0 for a fail. If your sheet only shows letters, look at the grading legend or the academic handbook for the point.
  • Switch to the semester view for a running CGPA: each SGPA with its credits.

The output shows the average to two decimals, how many credits and points were used, and a line labelled x 10 percentage. Read that line as one possibility, not the Vel Tech answer.

Credits: 3 + 3 + 4 + 3 + 2 + 1 = 16. Credit points: 136. SGPA = 8.50.

Over three semesters: 8.50 on 16 credits, 7.20 on 20 credits, 8.10 on 22 credits.

CGPA = (8.50 x 16 + 7.20 x 20 + 8.10 x 22) / 58 = (136 + 144 + 178.2) / 58 = 458.2 / 58 = 7.90.

Veltech CGPA to percentage: comparing the rules

Until Vel Tech confirms its method, here is what each common rule would give. The spread is wide enough to move you across a 75 percent or 60 percent eligibility line.

Veltech CGPA to percentage calculator comparison
CGPAx 10x 9.5(CGPA - 0.75) x 10
5.858.055.150.5
6.464.060.856.5
7.070.066.562.5
7.676.072.268.5

8.888.083.680.5
9.393.088.3585.5
9.797.092.1589.5

At a CGPA of 7.90 you would get 79.0, 75.05 or 71.5 percent. When a recruiter or university needs a figure, ask the Vel Tech examination cell for a conversion certificate and quote that. If the receiving body prints its own rule in the notice, use theirs.

Questions students ask

How do I calculate CGPA at Vel Tech?

Every course gives credits times its point; add these across all semesters, then share the total over every credit. That is the veltech GPA calculator method too, applied to one term. Or enter each SGPA with its credits in the semester tab.

How do I convert Veltech CGPA to percentage?

Vel Tech has no rule we were able to verify. CGPA x 10 is quoted by one outside source, and x 9.5 or (CGPA minus 0.75) x 10 are used elsewhere. The examination cell can issue a certificate with the official figure.

Why does the Vel Tech GPA calculator use grade points, not letters?

We have not verified the Vel Tech letter table. Typing the printed point keeps your SGPA exact and avoids a wrong mapping.

Does it work as a Vel Tech University GPA calculator for a single semester?

It does: the opening tab returns one term's SGPA from credits and printed points, so it doubles as a GPA calculator Veltech students can use each semester.

Is this the same as the Anna University affiliated Vel Tech colleges?

No. Colleges whose mark sheets carry the Anna University name follow Anna University grading. Use the Anna University calculator for those.
