This RTU CGPA calculator turns the credit and grade point of every course on your RTU result into SGPA, then blends semesters by credit load into CGPA; for instance 154.5 points earned from 18 credits works out to 8.58. Rajasthan Technical University's CBCS guidelines then give the equivalent percentage as 10 x CGPA.
The x 10 rule comes from RTU's Dean Academic Affairs CBCS documents for B.Tech and BCA, which we saw in extracts rather than in full. Your grade sheet and any university certificate carry the final figure.

SGPA = Σ(Ci x Gi) / ΣCi ; Percentage = 10 x CGPA
Ci is the credit of each course and Gi the grade point shown for it on the RTU result.
Using the RTU CGPA calculator above
Enter one row per course with its credit value and the grade point shown on the result. We could not verify RTU's letter to marks bands for every scheme, so the calculator asks for the point (10, 9, 8 and so on) rather than the letter. You get SGPA plus the credit and point totals, and a CGPA tab joins semesters and prints the percentage at 10 x CGPA.
It doubles as an RTU GPA calculator, and the CGPA tab acts as the RTU CGPA to percentage calculator too. Right after an RTU result comes out you can enter the new semester and see the updated CGPA at once.
- Open your semester result on the RTU results site.
- List each course's credits and grade point.
- Enter them to get SGPA.
- Add every semester's SGPA and credits for CGPA.
- Multiply CGPA by 10 for the percentage.
RTU SGPA calculator: one semester, step by step
| Course | Credit | Point | Credit x point |
|---|---|---|---|
| Theory 1 | 3.0 | 9 | 27.0 |
| Theory 2 | 3.0 | 8 | 24.0 |
| Theory 3 | 3.0 | 10 | 30.0 |
| Theory 4 | 3.0 | 7 | 21.0 |
| Theory 5 | 2.0 | 8 | 16.0 |
| Lab 1 | 1.5 | 9 | 13.5 |
| Lab 2 | 1.5 | 10 | 15.0 |
| Seminar or training | 1.0 | 8 | 8.0 |
| Sum | 18.0 | 154.5 |
SGPA = 154.5 / 18 = 8.583, shown as 8.58.
If you are unsure of a course's credit value, check the teaching and examination scheme of your branch. Small courses such as seminars still count with their own credits.
RTU SGPA to CGPA
| Sem | Credit load | Term SGPA | Load x SGPA |
|---|---|---|---|
| 5 | 21 | 8.58 | 180.18 |
| 6 | 23 | 7.95 | 182.85 |
| 7 | 18 | 8.8 | 158.4 |
| Total | 62 | 521.43 |
CGPA over these semesters = 521.43 / 62 = 8.41. Add every semester on your record, not just the later ones, for the true figure.
Our SGPA to CGPA guide covers the weighting in more detail.
RTU CGPA to percentage conversion
RTU's CBCS guidelines for B.Tech and the later BCA CBCS document both state the equivalent percentage as 10 x CGPA. We read these through search extracts because the files did not open directly, so the rule is well supported but not quoted in full here.

|---|---|
| 9.5 | 95.0 |
| 9.0 | 90.0 |
| 8.5 | 85.0 |
| 8.25 | 82.5 |
| 8.0 | 80.0 |
| 7.75 | 77.5 |
| 7.5 | 75.0 |
| 7.0 | 70.0 |
| 6.5 | 65.0 |
| 6.0 | 60.0 |
| 5.5 | 55.0 |
| 5.0 | 50.0 |
Some websites claim RTU uses (CGPA x 10) minus 7.5 for PG admission. We found no official basis for that. Use 10 x CGPA unless an admission notice says otherwise.
Worked conversions
CGPA 8.43. 10 x 8.43 = 84.3 percent.
CGPA 6.95. 10 x 6.95 = 69.5 percent.
Company asking for 70 percent. 70 / 10 = 7.0, so a CGPA of 7.00 qualifies.
Other universities that also multiply by 10 include AKTU and Anna University; JNTU and MAKAUT subtract first.
Slips in RTU calculations
| What happens | Why it hurts | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| Leaving out lab and seminar credits | Small courses still shift SGPA | Enter every course |
| Typing raw marks in the point box | The answer climbs above 10 | Copy the point column from the result |
| Subtracting 7.5 for PG forms | No official basis was found | Use 10 x CGPA unless the form says otherwise |
| Averaging SGPAs without credits | Heavy semesters are underweighted | Weight each by credits |
Where to find the numbers
The RTU result for each semester lists courses with credits, grades and grade points, plus SGPA. The scheme document of your branch gives credits too. For a percentage certificate, ask your college to forward a request to the university and pay the fee RTU sets; our certificate guide explains the process in general.
Questions students ask
What is the RTU SGPA method?
For every course, credit times point; sum those; then divide the sum by the credits registered that semester. Doing it in the tool avoids slips.
What is the RTU CGPA to percentage formula?
Equivalent percentage = 10 x CGPA, as stated in RTU's CBCS guidelines. A CGPA of 7.8 gives 78 percent.
What is RTU percentage to CGPA?
Divide by ten, the mirror image of the forward rule. So 68.5 percent maps back to 6.85.
Does RTU subtract 7.5 for PG admission?
Some sites say so, but we found no official RTU basis for it. Follow the admission notice of the institute you are applying to.
Is this also an RTU sgpa to cgpa calculator?
Yes. List your semesters in the CGPA tab, credit load beside each SGPA, and the weighting is done for you.
Who issues the RTU certificate converting CGPA to percentage?
Your college forwards such requests to RTU, with your grade sheets and the fee the university sets.
