An SSLC percentage calculator works from marks where your board prints them, as Karnataka and Tamil Nadu do: total marks over total maximum, times 100. Kerala SSLC certificates show only grades, so a Kerala figure can only be estimated, commonly as total grade points x 100 / 90; grade points adding up to 83 come to about 92.22 percent.
Both cases work in the calculator above. This page gives the Kerala nine point grade table, a chart from grade points to an estimated percentage, how to enter grades as numbers, and the habits that make SSLC figures go wrong.

Two kinds of SSLC result
SSLC is the Class 10 public exam name in several southern states, but the certificates are not alike, so an SSLC exam percentage calculator has to handle two cases. Karnataka and Tamil Nadu SSLC mark sheets print marks, so the percentage is plain arithmetic. Kerala's SSLC certificate prints a grade for each subject and no marks, so the marks behind the grades are not known and no exact percentage is possible.
This site does not hold board specific rules for Karnataka or Tamil Nadu beyond the arithmetic, so type the subjects and maximums exactly as your own mark sheet prints them.
- Check whether your SSLC certificate shows marks or grades.
- For marks, enter each subject and its printed maximum.
- For Kerala grades, turn each grade into its grade point.
- Enter the grade point as marks and 9 as the maximum, one row per subject.
- Read the result, and call a grade based figure an estimate.
Kerala SSLC mark percentage calculator: entering marks or grades
For a marks sheet: type each subject's marks and its maximum. Some subjects may carry a maximum other than 100; enter what is printed. Leave best five unticked unless a form asks for five subjects.
For Kerala grades: look up each grade point in the table below. Type the grade point in Marks and 9 in Out of. Add rows until you have all ten subjects. The tool then divides your total grade points by 90 and multiplies by 100, which is the common estimate.
Ignore the CGPA line in the result for an SSLC. It is tied to CBSE's past CGPA grading and has no use for a state board.
Kerala SSLC grade to percentage calculator table
Kerala uses a nine point scale. Each grade covers a band of the score in that subject.
| Grade | Score range | Grade point |
|---|---|---|
| A+ | 90 to 100 percent | 9 |
| A | 80 to 89 | 8 |
| B+ | 70 to 79 | 7 |
| B | 60 to 69 | 6 |
| C+ | 50 to 59 | 5 |
| C | 40 to 49 | 4 |
| D+ | 30 to 39 | 3 |
| D | 20 to 29 | 2 |
| E | below 20 | 1 |
D+ is the minimum grade for eligibility for higher studies. Sources disagree on the exact pass threshold for a subject, so check the current Pareeksha Bhavan notification rather than relying on any single figure.
Kerala SSLC percentage calculator example
Ten subject grades: A+, A+, A, A+, B+, A, A+, A, B+, A+.
Grade points: 9 + 9 + 8 + 9 + 7 + 8 + 9 + 8 + 7 + 9 = 83.
Estimate = 83 / 90 x 100 = about 92.22 percent.
The same student's real marks could be anywhere inside each band. Every A+ might be a 90 or a 100. That is why the figure must be labelled as an estimate. A method using the middle of each band also circulates and gives a different number; neither is an official Kerala rule.

Marks based SSLC: Karnataka and Tamil Nadu
A marks based SSLC sheet with six subjects: 92, 85, 78, 96, 88 and 81, each out of 100.
Total = 520. Percentage = 520 / 600 x 100 = 86.67 percent.
If one of your papers has a different maximum, the total maximum changes too, so type each one. The 10th percentage calculator covers Class 10 results from every board, and the subject percentage calculator shows one paper at a time.
Habits that make SSLC figures wrong
Most of these come from copying a method meant for another board.
| Habit | Problem | Instead |
|---|---|---|
| Writing the grade estimate as exact marks | The certificate holds no marks, so the figure is a guess | Write estimated, or quote grades |
| Using 1.11 x total grade points for fewer than ten subjects | That shortcut assumes a maximum of 90 | Divide by 9 x number of subjects |
| Mixing the midpoint method with the 100 / 90 method | They give different answers for the same grades | Pick one, and say which |
| Ticking best five for a Karnataka or Tamil Nadu sheet | A form may want the full total | Leave it off unless the form says five |
| Ignoring a subject maximum that is not 100 | The total maximum comes out wrong | Type the maximum printed for each subject |
For Kerala Plus Two, which also prints grades, see the Plus Two percentage calculator. The full board list is on the marks percentage hub.
Questions students ask
How can I get a Kerala SSLC percentage from grades?
Turn each grade into its grade point (A+ is 9, A is 8 and so on), add the ten points and multiply by 100 / 90. Grade points of 83 give about 92.22 percent. This is a common estimate, not an official Kerala figure.
Does the Kerala SSLC certificate show marks?
No. It shows a grade for each subject, not the marks. That is why any percentage worked out from it is only an estimate.
What is the SSLC grade to marks conversion?
Each grade covers a range: A+ is 90 to 100 percent, A is 80 to 89, B+ is 70 to 79, and so on down to E below 20. No single exact mark can be read from a grade.
Is there an SSLC percentage calculator for Karnataka?
Yes, the calculator above works for Karnataka and Tamil Nadu SSLC because those boards print marks. Enter each subject's marks and its printed maximum and leave best five off unless a form asks for it.
What is the pass grade in Kerala SSLC?
D+ is the minimum grade for eligibility for higher studies. Sources disagree on the exact pass percentage for a subject, so check the current Pareeksha Bhavan notification.
Can I use an SSLC CGPA calculator?
Kerala does not print a CGPA on the SSLC certificate. You can average the grade points (83 / 10 = 8.3), but that is not an official CGPA either.
