This MSU CGPA calculator gives your SGPA as the total of credits times grade points over the total credits, and your CGPA as the credit weighted average of all semester SGPAs. Enter the grade points exactly as printed on your MSU Baroda marksheet; we do not print a letter grade table because we could not verify one for every faculty.
Many students also want MSU CGPA to percentage. The Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda has no conversion rule we could confirm, so the result panel shows the common x 10 reading and this page lists x 9.5 and minus 0.75 beside it for comparison. Only the university can fix the final number.

From the MSU Baroda examination section
SGPA = sum(credits x grade point) / sum(credits)
Each course on the marksheet carries a credit value and a grade point out of 10. The CGPA repeats the same idea across semesters, weighting each SGPA by that semester's credits.
How to use the MSU CGPA calculator above
You will see two tabs. SGPA from grades has a row for every course: add a name if it helps, then the credits, then the grade point from the list (every half point from 10 down to 4, plus 0). CGPA from semesters asks for each semester SGPA and that semester's total credits. Leave credits blank or equal if every semester carries the same load.
The result panel shows the SGPA or CGPA to two decimals, the credits and credit points counted, and an x 10 percentage reading. It also warns you if any grade point is below 4, which on many marksheets means a course that still needs to be cleared. Check the pass grade printed on your own marksheet, since faculties can differ.
- Open your MSU Baroda semester marksheet.
- For each course, enter its credits and the grade point printed beside it.
- Read the SGPA in the result panel.
- Switch to CGPA from semesters and enter each SGPA with its total credits.
- Use the CGPA on forms, and ask the university if a percentage is needed.
Working out one semester SGPA by hand
| Course | Credits | Grade point | Credits x GP |
|---|---|---|---|
| Core paper 1 | 4 | 8 | 32 |
| Core paper 2 | 4 | 9 | 36 |
| Elective | 3 | 7 | 21 |
| Practical | 3 | 10 | 30 |
| Ability course | 2 | 6 | 12 |
| Total | 16 | 131 |
SGPA = 131 / 16 = 8.1875, shown as 8.19. A plain average of the five grade points would be 40 / 5 = 8.0, which is wrong because the two 4 credit papers count for more.
From semester SGPAs to MSU CGPA
Three semesters: SGPA 7.8 with 22 credits, 8.4 with 24 credits and 8.1 with 20 credits.
Credit points: 7.8 x 22 = 171.6, 8.4 x 24 = 201.6, 8.1 x 20 = 162.
CGPA = (171.6 + 201.6 + 162) / 66 = 535.2 / 66 = 8.11.
A simple average, (7.8 + 8.4 + 8.1) / 3, gives 8.10. The two are close here because the credits are similar, but they drift apart when one semester is much heavier.
The same steps work for an MS University CGPA calculator for PG as for UG; only the number of semesters and the credits change. For more on the method see the SGPA to CGPA guide.
MSU CGPA to percentage: three readings
We did not find an MSU Baroda ordinance or circular that turns CGPA into a percentage. Before you have a letter from MSU, compare these readings. Take the CGPA of 8.11 from the example above: x 10 gives 81.1 percent, x 9.5 gives 77.05 percent, and (8.11 - 0.75) x 10 gives 73.6 percent.
| CGPA | x 10 | x 9.5 | (CGPA - 0.75) x 10 |
|---|---|---|---|
| 6.2 | 62 | 58.9 | 54.5 |
| 6.6 | 66 | 62.7 | 58.5 |
| 7.1 | 71 | 67.45 | 63.5 |
| 7.4 | 74 | 70.3 | 66.5 |
| 7.9 | 79 | 75.05 | 71.5 |
| 8.3 | 83 | 78.85 | 75.5 |
| 8.7 | 87 | 82.65 | 79.5 |
| 9.1 | 91 | 86.45 | 83.5 |
| 9.4 | 94 | 89.3 | 86.5 |

Where each number is on an MSU marksheet
- Credits: a column beside each course, sometimes headed Cr or Credit.
- Grade point: the number out of 10 next to the letter grade. Use this, not the letter.
- SGPA: shown at the bottom of every semester statement once all courses are cleared.
- CGPA: printed on the final statement, and sometimes on each later semester statement as well.
If a course was cleared later through an ATKT or repeat attempt, use the grade point from the statement that shows the cleared result. Your faculty office can confirm which attempt counts.
MSU Baroda or MS University Tirunelveli
Two universities are often called MSU or MS University, so anyone looking for a CGPA calculator for MSU university should check which one they mean. This page is built for The Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda. Students of Manonmaniam Sundaranar University in Tirunelveli can still use the SGPA and CGPA tabs, because the credit weighted method is the same wherever credits and grade points are printed, but this page does not cover that university's percentage rule. Ask its examination office for it.
Other Gujarat universities follow their own rules. See Gujarat University and GTU for those.
Slips that change your MSU CGPA
| Slip | Effect | Correct way |
|---|---|---|
| Averaging grade points without credits | Light courses get too much weight | Multiply by credits first |
| Entering the letter grade's guessed value | Faculties may map letters differently | Use the grade point printed |
| Leaving out a failed course | SGPA looks higher than it is | Include it until it is cleared and reissued |
| Writing a converted percentage as official | No confirmed MSU rule exists | Write the CGPA, or get a university letter |
Questions students ask
How is SGPA calculated at MSU Baroda?
Each course contributes its credits multiplied by its grade point. Add these contributions and divide by the semester's credit total. The tool repeats this for you once credits and grade points are in.
Is there an MS University CGPA calculator for UG and PG?
It does. One tool serves both levels. Undergraduate and postgraduate courses use the same credit weighted method; only the number of semesters and credits differ.
How to convert MSU CGPA to percentage?
No published MSU Baroda conversion rule turned up in our search. Compare the x 10, x 9.5 and minus 0.75 readings, and request a written figure from the MSU exam office for official use.
Under MS University rules, what does a CGPA of 8 come to as a percentage?
Times 10 gives 80, times 9.5 gives 76, and the minus 0.75 method gives 72.5. None is a confirmed MSU rule, so ask the university before using a number on a form.
Why does my CGPA differ from the simple average of SGPAs?
The CGPA weights each semester by its credits. If one semester carried more credits, it pulls the CGPA toward its SGPA more strongly than a simple average would.
Can I use the MSU percentage calculator for marks instead of grades?
If your statement shows marks rather than grade points, use the marks percentage calculator: add the marks you scored, split that by the full marks of all papers, then multiply by 100.
