JNTUH CGPA Calculator and SGPA Calculator (JNTUK Supported)

UniversitiesR18 and R22JNTUK R20SGPA to CGPAChecked Nov 2026

This JNTUH CGPA calculator finds SGPA as the sum of credits times grade points divided by total credits, then gives CGPA by weighting every semester's SGPA with that term's credit load, which is the method in the JNTUH R18 regulations. A semester worth 147 credit points over 17 credits gives an SGPA of 8.65.

JNTU Kakinada students can use the same tool with the R20 letter scale, where the top grade is called A+ rather than O. Your memo from the university always carries the final figure, so treat this as a quick check.

At a glance

  • SGPA

Σ(Ci x Gi) / ΣCi for the semester
  • CGPA

Credit weighted over all semesters; final after semester 8
  • JNTUH top grade

    O, 90 marks and above, 10 points
  • JNTUK top grade

    A+, 90 marks and above, 10 points
  • Fail

F or absent carries 0 points
  • Rules

JNTUH R18 and JNTUK R20 regulations

SGPA = Σ(Ci x Gi) / ΣCi ; CGPA = Σ(Ci x Si) / ΣCi

Ci is credits, Gi the grade point in a subject, and Si the SGPA of semester i with its total credits Ci.

Inputs for the JNTUH CGPA calculator above

Select the university at the top. JNTUH lists O, A+, A, B+, B, C, F and Ab; JNTUK lists A+, A, B, C, D, E, F and AB. For each subject row type the credits printed beside it on the marks memo and pick your letter. The panel gives SGPA to two decimals and shows total credits and credit points.

This JNTU CGPA calculator also works as a JNTU SGPA calculator and a JNTUH GPA calculator, since GPA, SGPA and CGPA all use the same credit weighting. The second tab takes semester SGPAs with their credits and returns the cumulative figure. Lateral entry students usually join in semester 3, so add only the semesters on their memos.

  1. Pick JNTUH or JNTUK.
  2. Enter each subject's credits from your memo.
  3. Choose the letter grade you got.
  4. Read the semester SGPA.
  5. Add every semester's SGPA and credits for CGPA.

The letters do not match across the two universities. An A at Hyderabad is 8 points; an A at Kakinada is 9. Labs at JNTUK are marked out of 50, so their bands are half the theory bands. R22 and R23 students should check their own regulation book for any change.

Worked SGPA example

Sample JNTUH semester, R18 letters
SubjectCredits (Ci)GradeGiCi x Gi
Subject 13.0O1030.0
Subject 23.0A+927.0
Subject 33.0A824.0
Subject 43.0B+721.0
Subject 52.0A+918.0
Lab 11.5O1015.0
Lab 21.5A812.0
Sum17.0147.0

SGPA = 147 / 17 = 8.647, which rounds to 8.65.

Under JNTUK R20, a failed subject stays in the SGPA with zero points. If Subject 4 above were an F, the total falls by 21 points while the 17 credits stay, giving 126 / 17 = 7.41. Once you clear it in a supplementary exam, the new grade takes the place of the zero.

2228.60189.2
Total40318.8

CGPA = 318.8 / 40 = 7.97. A plain average of 7.20 and 8.60 is 7.90, which understates the record because semester 2 carried four more credits.

JNTUK rounds SGPA and CGPA to two decimals, and the tool does the same. Students from any college can read why the weighting matters on our SGPA to CGPA guide.

From CGPA to percentage at JNTU

Do not multiply by 10. JNTUH subtracts 0.5 first and JNTUK subtracts 0.75. With the 7.97 above, a Hyderabad student writes 74.7 percent and a Kakinada student writes 72.2 percent. Full tables are on the JNTU CGPA to percentage page.

JNTUA (Anantapur) students: weighting by credits works the same way, but the letter scale and conversion rule could not be confirmed, so pick the points shown on your own memo and ask the exam branch for the percentage rule.

Where to read your credits and grades

  • Semester marks memo: subject codes, credits, grade letter, grade point and SGPA.
  • Results website: letter grades on the day results come out, often before the memo reaches college. Type them straight in, and the JNTUH results CGPA calculator view updates at once.
  • Consolidated memo: final CGPA and class after semester 8.

If a revaluation changes a grade, re-enter that subject. Students at other engineering universities can use the VTU SGPA calculator or the AKTU SGPA calculator.

Questions students ask

How is SGPA calculated in JNTUH?

Multiply each subject's credits by its grade point, add the products, and divide by the semester's total credits. O is 10, A+ 9, A 8, B+ 7, B 6, C 5, and F or absent 0.

Does the JNTUK SGPA calculator R20 count failed subjects?

Yes. R20 includes subjects with zero grade points in SGPA, so an F pulls the figure down until you pass it.

How do I convert SGPA to CGPA in JNTUH?

Multiply each semester's SGPA by the credits of that semester, add them up, and divide by the total credits. The calculator's second tab does this.

Will the JNTUK CGPA calculator work for R23 students?

The weighting method is standard, so the result is a fair estimate. We have not checked the R23 grade table, so confirm the letters on your memo first.

Is there a JNTUA CGPA calculator?

Yes, if you type the grade point values from your JNTUA memo into this tool. The letter scale and the percentage rule for JNTUA were not confirmed, so check with the exam branch.

What CGPA is first class in JNTUH?

First class starts at a final CGPA of 6.50. Distinction needs 8.00 with every subject passed at the first attempt within four years, at least 8 at every semester end, and no detention.
