The KL CGPA calculator above uses the official KL University grade points (O 10, A+ 9, A 8, B+ 7, B 6, C 5, P 4, F 0) and weights each one by course credits, so SGPA = total credit points / total credits and CGPA is the same over all semesters. A semester with 138 credit points on 18 credits, for example, gives an SGPA of 7.67.
The percentage is a different story. KLU has not published a conversion rule we could verify, and outside sources disagree. The panel shows the CGPA x 10 figure as one option; for an official number, ask the KLU examination section for a conversion letter.

Use the credits printed beside each course on the KLU grade sheet. An F or AB counts as 0 points with its credits still in the total.
KLU grade points for B.Tech
These bands come from the KLU grading document for absolute grading in B.Tech courses. KLU also defines relative grading, where an O needs both 90 percent and a score well above the class average, so your course handout tells you which method a subject uses.
| Grade | Marks | Points |
|---|---|---|
| O | 90 to 100 | 10 |
| A+ | 80 to 89 | 9 |
| A | 70 to 79 | 8 |
| B+ | 60 to 69 | 7 |
| B | 50 to 59 | 6 |
| C | 46 to 49 | 5 |
| P | 40 to 45 | 4 |
| F | 0 to 39 | 0 |
| AB | Absent | 0 |
Postgraduate programmes use a shorter scale from O to B, with F at 49 or below. If you are a PG student, check the grade sheet before you pick points.
- Download your semester grade sheet from the KL ERP.
- Add a row per course with its credits and grade in the calculator.
- Read the SGPA and the credit total for that semester.
- Switch to the semester tab and enter each SGPA with its credits for the CGPA.
- Ask the exam section for the official percentage if a form needs one.
Using the KL CGPA calculator
The KL University scale is preloaded. On the first tab, list each course from your grade sheet: credits in one box, letter grade in the next. The panel gives the SGPA, the credits it used and the total credit points, and flags any course below P.
On the second tab you enter semester results instead: each SGPA beside the credits registered that term. That gives a credit weighted CGPA, which is how KLU combines semesters. This makes the page a KL SGPA calculator and a KLU CGPA calculator in one.
The percentage line under the result uses CGPA x 10. Treat it as a comparison only until the university confirms its rule for your batch.
Worked KLU SGPA and CGPA
| KLU course | Credit value | Letter | Points earned |
|---|---|---|---|
| Data Structures | 4 | O | 40 |
| Digital Logic | 3 | A+ | 27 |
| Probability and Statistics | 4 | A | 32 |
| Database Systems | 3 | B+ | 21 |
| Environmental Science | 2 | C | 10 |
| Professional Ethics | 2 | P | 8 |
Credits = 18, points = 138. SGPA = 138 / 18 = 7.67.
Next semester: 20 credits and 170 points, an SGPA of 8.50. CGPA = (138 + 170) / (18 + 20) = 308 / 38 = 8.11. Averaging the two SGPAs without credits comes to about 8.08, slightly low, because the heavier semester was the better one.
KL University CGPA to percentage: what we know
KLU publishes its grade table, yet no KLU conversion rule has turned up in any official document we checked. A KL University CGPA to percentage calculator can therefore only show options. Outside sources split between CGPA x 10 and (CGPA minus 0.75) x 10, and some colleges that ask for a percentage simply multiply by 9.5. The gap between these can be 7 or 8 percentage points, which matters for a job cut off.
| CGPA | x 10 | x 9.5 | (CGPA - 0.75) x 10 |
|---|---|---|---|
| 5.5 | 55.0 | 52.25 | 47.5 |
| 6.0 | 60.0 | 57.0 | 52.5 |
| 6.5 | 65.0 | 61.75 | 57.5 |
| 7.0 | 70.0 | 66.5 | 62.5 |
| 7.5 | 75.0 | 71.25 | 67.5 |
| 8.0 | 80.0 | 76.0 | 72.5 |
| 8.5 | 85.0 | 80.75 | 77.5 |
| 9.0 | 90.0 | 85.5 | 82.5 |
| 9.5 | 95.0 | 90.25 | 87.5 |
The safe route: request a conversion certificate or letter from the KLU examination section and quote that figure. The university decides the final number, not any calculator.
KLU grade sheet and where each number sits
- Credits: next to the course code on the semester grade sheet or in the ERP result view.
- Letter grade: the grade column; type it exactly as printed.
- SGPA: at the foot of each semester's grade sheet.
- CGPA: on the latest grade sheet and the consolidated memo after the final semester.
If the calculator's SGPA differs from the printed one, check for a course you left out, a wrong credit value, or an audit course that should not be counted. This tool works from grades, so it is not a KLU marks calculator for internal or end exam scores; the marks bands in the grade table tell you which letter a total falls in.
KLU CGPA mistakes and fixes
| Mistake | Result | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| Giving C 4 points | SGPA comes out low | At KLU, C is 5 and P is 4 |
| Leaving out an F | SGPA comes out high | Count its credits with 0 points |
| Quoting CGPA x 10 as official | An employer may reject it | Use the KLU conversion letter |
| Averaging SGPAs blindly | Off when credits differ | Feed credits into the second tab |
Questions students ask
How is CGPA calculated at KL University?
KLU uses a credit weighted average. A 4 credit O adds 40 points and a 2 credit P adds 8; the total points over total credits is the SGPA. For CGPA, do the same across all semesters, or let each term's SGPA count in proportion to the credits of that term.
How do I convert KLU CGPA to percentage?
KLU has not published a rule we were able to check. Sources mention CGPA x 10 and (CGPA minus 0.75) x 10. Until the KLU examination section gives you a conversion letter, any KLU CGPA to percentage calculator, ours included, shows options rather than an official figure.
What is the pass grade at KL University?
P, which covers 40 to 45 marks under B.Tech absolute grading and carries 4 points. Below 40 is F with 0 points.
Does this double as a KLU SGPA calculator or KLU GPA calculator?
It does. Tab one returns a single term SGPA, and tab two merges terms into the CGPA.
How many points is a C worth at KLU?
C is worth 5 points and covers 46 to 49 marks. P, from 40 to 45, is worth 4.
