This AKTU SGPA calculator applies the ordinance formula SGPA = Σ(Ci x Gi) / ΣCi, where Ci is the credit of each course and Gi its grade point, so a term that earns 166 credit points from 19 credits lands at 8.74. It also averages your odd and even semesters into YGPA and joins all semesters into CGPA.
Each grade sheet from the university shows the official SGPA. Use the tool to predict results, to check a printed figure, or to see how much a back paper is costing you. A semester needs an SGPA of at least 5.0 to count as passed.

Filling in the AKTU SGPA calculator
For each course on the result, add a row, type its credits and pick the letter you got. Credits come from your branch's evaluation scheme or the credit column of the grade sheet. Practicals usually have small credit values, while main theory papers carry more. The panel reports SGPA together with the credit count, the points earned and a warning if the SGPA falls below 5.0.

SGPA = 166 / 19 = 8.737, so the grade sheet would show 8.74.
If Theory paper 4 had been an F instead of B, the semester would lose 21 points and the SGPA would drop to 145 / 19 = 7.63, still above the 5.0 floor but with a back paper to clear.
YGPA: the yearly figure
AKTU also works out a YGPA for each academic year, which is the simple average of that year's odd and even semester SGPA.
Odd semester 8.74, even semester 8.10. YGPA = (8.74 + 8.10) / 2 = 8.42.
YGPA is useful for internships that ask for a first year or second year score, but it is not your degree figure.
Joining semesters: the AKTU CGPA calculator view
Students want to know how they should calculate CGPA from SGPA in AKTU before the final sheet arrives. The ordinance computes CGPA when the programme ends; to track it as you go, weight each SGPA by that semester's credits.

CGPA = 702.9 / 89 = 7.898, shown as 7.90. Averaging the four SGPAs without weights gives 7.93, slightly high because the weaker semester 3 carried the most credits.

AKTU's ordinances convert CGPA to percentage by multiplying by 10, so the 7.90 above equals 79.0 percent. First Division needs CGPA 6.5, and First Division with Honours needs 7.5 with no subject repeated within 8 semesters. Details are on the AKTU CGPA to percentage page.

What is the AKTU method for working out SGPA?
Take every course of the term, find credits times grade point for it, total those numbers, then split that total over the term's credits. A+ is 10 and E is 4.
What is the difference between SGPA, YGPA and CGPA at AKTU?
SGPA covers one semester. YGPA averages the odd and even semester of one year. CGPA covers the whole programme.
How do I convert AKTU SGPA to CGPA?
Weight each term's SGPA with the credits registered that term, sum those weighted values, then divide by all the credits together. Only when every semester has equal credits does a plain average match.
