This IPU CGPA calculator multiplies the credits of each paper by the point value shown on your GGSIPU result, adds the products and divides by total credits, so papers worth 175 credit points across 20 credits come to 8.75. Semester figures are then weighted by credits to give CGPA.
The percentage is the harder part. No published GGSIPU ordinance turned up that fixes one conversion formula, and sources disagree. This page shows what each common rule gives and how to get the figure the university will stand behind.

SGPA = Σ(Ci x Gi) / ΣCi
Ci is the credit of a paper and Gi the grade point shown against it on the IPU result.
What to type into the IPU CGPA calculator
Each row needs two numbers: the paper's credits and the grade point you got. Both appear on the result for every paper. You pick grade points directly (10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4 or 0) because we could not verify GGSIPU's letter to marks table for every batch, and the point on your result is what counts. The panel shows SGPA, total credits and credit points.
Because GPA, SGPA and CGPA follow one formula, it also serves as an IPU GPA calculator and a GGSIPU SGPA calculator. Switch to the CGPA tab to add semesters, and open the percentage dropdown to see every rule side by side.
- Open your semester result on the IPU result portal.
- Note each paper's credits and grade point.
- Enter them in the calculator.
- Read SGPA, then add semesters for CGPA.
- Check the percentage rule with your college before using it.
SGPA example with real numbers
| Paper | Credits | Grade point on result | Credits x point |
|---|---|---|---|
| Paper A | 4 | 10 | 40 |
| Paper B | 4 | 9 | 36 |
| Paper C | 4 | 8 | 32 |
| Paper D | 3 | 9 | 27 |
| Paper E | 3 | 7 | 21 |
| Practical F | 1 | 10 | 10 |
| Practical G | 1 | 9 | 9 |
| Total | 20 | 175 |
SGPA = 175 / 20 = 8.75.
Change Paper E to a fail (0 points) and, if the failed paper stays in the denominator, SGPA falls to 154 / 20 = 7.70. How a failed paper is treated until you clear it should be checked against your own scheme.
Overall CGPA calculator view for IPU
| Sem | Credits | SGPA | Weighted |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | 22 | 8.1 | 178.2 |
| 2 | 28 | 7.2 | 201.6 |
| 3 | 25 | 8.4 | 210.0 |
| Sum | 75 | 589.8 |
CGPA = 589.8 / 75 = 7.86. The plain average of the three SGPAs is 7.9, a little high because the weakest semester had the most credits.

IPU CGPA to percentage: no single confirmed rule
Searches for a ggsipu cgpa to percentage conversion formula return two answers: straight CGPA x 10, and (CGPA - 0.75) x 10. Some sources say a later notification moved newer admissions to the minus 0.75 rule, but we could not see that notice ourselves. Until you have it in writing, treat both as possibilities.
| CGPA | x 10 | x 9.5 | (CGPA - 0.75) x 10 |
|---|---|---|---|
| 9.0 | 90.0 | 85.5 | 82.5 |
| 8.5 | 85.0 | 80.75 | 77.5 |
| 8.4 | 84.0 | 79.8 | 76.5 |
| 8.0 | 80.0 | 76.0 | 72.5 |
| 7.5 | 75.0 | 71.25 | 67.5 |
| 7.0 | 70.0 | 66.5 | 62.5 |
| 6.5 | 65.0 | 61.75 | 57.5 |
| 6.0 | 60.0 | 57.0 | 52.5 |
The x 9.5 column is shown only for comparison, since it is the rule at nearby Delhi University. At CGPA 8.4 the answers range from 76.5 to 84 percent, which is enough to cross many cut offs.
Getting the official percentage
- Ask your college's exam cell which rule the university applies to your batch.
- Apply to the GGSIPU examination division for a GGSIPU certificate stating your percentage if an employer or foreign university needs proof.
- Check whether your final transcript prints a percentage or a conversion note.
Wording for the request is covered on our certificate page. Until you have that document, write the CGPA on forms and add the percentage only when you know the rule.
Errors to watch for
| Error | Effect | Remedy |
|---|---|---|
| Typing marks instead of grade points | SGPA goes far above 10 | Enter the point (10, 9, 8...) from the result |
| Skipping practicals | Credits and points both drop, which skews SGPA | Include every paper with credits |
| Quoting x 10 as certain | A recruiter using minus 0.75 may see a mismatch | Name the rule or attach the certificate |
| Averaging SGPAs equally | Heavy semesters are underweighted | Weight by credits |
Where each number is printed
The semester result usually shows each paper's code, credits, marks and grade point, plus the SGPA. The consolidated result later shows CGPA. Programmes that report on a 10 point basis can all use the calculator, including those searching for an IPU B.Tech percentage calculator. If you know your percentage and want CGPA, divide according to the rule your college confirms; the general percentage to CGPA page shows each method.
Questions students ask
How is SGPA calculated in GGSIPU?
Each paper's credits are multiplied by its grade point, the products are added, and the total is divided by the semester's credits. The tool on this page repeats that working from your result.
What is the IPU CGPA to percentage formula?
No single formula could be confirmed from an official notice. Sources cite CGPA x 10 and (CGPA - 0.75) x 10. Ask the exam cell or get the conversion certificate.
Will IPU give me a percentage conversion certificate for my CGPA?
Students can request one from the GGSIPU examination division. It settles the percentage for employers and foreign universities.
How do I convert IPU percentage to CGPA?
Reverse whichever rule applies to your batch. Under x 10 the CGPA is the percentage over 10; under minus 0.75 it is the percentage over 10 plus 0.75.
Does this work as an overall CGPA calculator for IPU?
Yes. Fill the CGPA tab with one row per term, SGPA beside its credits, to get the running overall figure.
Why do the percentage options differ so much?
Minus 0.75 lowers every value by 7.5 points compared with x 10. That is why you should confirm the rule before writing a percentage.
