Maths alone is half the engineering paper. A strong Maths count can carry the total even if Physics is weak. Since nothing is deducted, answer every question before time runs out.
Worked example with AP rank weightage
Marks: Maths 58 + Physics 27 + Chemistry 31 = 116 out of 160, which is 72.5 percent of the maximum. This clears the 40 mark qualifying line.
AP composite, for illustration: suppose the normalised score works out to the same 72.5 on a scale of 100, and the Intermediate group subject marks are 85 percent.

0.25 x 85 = 21.25
Composite: 54.375 + 21.25 = 75.625

Each row is 0.75 times the first column plus 0.25 times the second. Because the EAPCET part carries three times the weight, a 10 point gain in the entrance adds 7.5 to the composite, while a 10 point gain in Intermediate adds only 2.5.

For Telangana, the scoring of the paper is clear: 160 questions, 1 mark each, no penalty. What is not clear is whether Intermediate marks are added into the rank. Telangana dropped the 25 percent Intermediate weightage some sessions ago, but some recent reports describe a 75 to 25 split again. We could not confirm either way from an official source.
